When a dog’s behaviour changes, pain isn’t always the first thing people think of. But discomfort often shows up first as reluctance, irritability, restlessness or “stubbornness”, long before there’s a limp or anything obvious to point to.
This short course is a focused section from my full Pain, Posture & Behaviour in Dogs course. It gives you a clear starting point for noticing when behaviour might be linked to discomfort, so you can respond with understanding rather than more training.
Who it’s for
- Dog trainers, behaviourists, groomers and walkers
- Invested dog guardians who want to understand their dog better.
What you’ll learn
- Why pain is a personal experience, and why two dogs with the same problem can behave very differently
- How pain shows up in behaviour, from irritability and reluctance to changes in sleep, play and tolerance of handling
- How to notice and record possible signs of discomfort, using a simple handout
- How to raise your concerns with a guardian or vet clearly, without stepping outside your role
What’s included
- Three short video lessons, about 25 minutes in total
- An illustrative case example: one from the guardian’s side, and one following a groomer and a trainer who each notice something isn’t right
- The Is My Dog Sore? handout to use with your own dog or with clients
- Lifetime access
What it isn’t
This isn’t a diagnostic course and it doesn’t replace veterinary care. It’s about noticing what’s there and knowing when to suggest a check-up.
