Movement Matters

Understanding Canine Posture & Pain Detection

About This Course

Learn to see dogs differently — and understand what their movement is telling you.
Every trainer and behaviourist has had that moment: a dog who "should" be doing well isn't. The behaviour plan is sound, the relationship is good, but something's not adding up.  More often than you'd expect, the missing piece is physical. Pain and discomfort shape behaviour constantly — quietly, gradually, and in ways that are easy to miss unless you know what you're looking for.

Movement Matters teaches you how to see it

What you'll learn
This course gives you a practical, evidence-informed foundation in canine movement, posture, and the pain-behaviour connection, built specifically for people already working with dogs.

By the end, you'll be able to:
✔️ Understand the canine musculoskeletal system and how pain actually shows up in dogs
✔️ Read movement and posture with a sharper eye, spotting the subtle signs most people scroll straight past
✔️ Recognise how physical discomfort can quietly drive the behaviours you're being asked to fix
✔️ Feel confident in what you're observing, and know when (and how) to raise it with a vet or physio

This isn't about replacing veterinary or physiotherapy input. It's about noticing what's there, and having the language and confidence to act on it — for your clients' dogs, and your own practice.

How the course works
Movement Matters is self-paced and built to be revisited, not rushed.
A simple rhythm works well for most people:
1. Watch the lesson
2. Observe — apply it to your own dog, or dogs you're already working with
3. Return to it later, once you've had time to notice things in real life

There's a genuine depth of content here. You're not meant to consume it all in one sitting,  it's designed to become a reference you keep coming back to as your eye develops.

What's included
🎥 Video lessons — a mix of short, focused lessons and deeper dives

Use what's useful to you. There's no single "right" way through the material.

What this course is — and isn't
Movement Matters will sharpen your understanding of canine musculoskeletal health and give you a working knowledge of how pain manifests in dogs, both physically and behaviourally.

It is not a diagnostic tool, and it's not a substitute for veterinary or physiotherapy care.

What it will do is help you have more informed, more useful conversations,  with owners, and with the professionals you refer on to. That's often the gap: not knowing something's wrong, but not having the vocabulary or confidence to raise it clearly.

You're not learning alone
Alongside the course, you'll have access to a private Facebook group where you can:
✔️Ask questions as they come up
✔️Share what you're noticing in real dogs
✔️ Learn from others working through the same material

I'm in there regularly,  guiding discussion, offering input, and helping people think through what they're seeing. While I can't offer 1:1 support within the group, some of the richest learning happens in that shared space, hearing how other trainers and behaviourists are applying this in their own work.
